Hear Us Roar!

Last Friday approximately 150 UVM students converged on the first floor of the Davis Center to show their support for divestment. Once the crowed was formed students took turns giving short speeches from the staircase through a megaphone about why divesting is the right thing for the University of Vermont and why they care about climate change. It was a really powerful event filled with energy. “Divest, divest. Put fossil fuels to rest.” "Hey-hey, ho-ho fossil fuels have got to go” and a slew of other chants rang throughout the building. This action showed the Board of Trustees that our students have a voice, and that they will use it to make sure divestment becomes a reality at UVM.

A huge thanks to everyone who came out and supported this big step forward toward sustainability and social justice!
